Sardines and Smellies at Work #notright #amwriting #sardines

I admit it!  I have always been a sardine eater.  I grew up loving them.  They were always a treat to me.  The ones I love have to be in oil.  I love fishy things that come in little tin cans.  Sardines, smoksardinesed oysters and octopus tentacles.  Tuna.  I have always worked in office setting and have found out that I have not always been the only sardine eater in the office.

The problem with sardines and all things that come in little tin cans is that they are smelly.  In a cube farm everyone can smell you are eating them. That has never deterred me.  I do eat sardines at work. I ate this can on yesterday at my desk.   They are low in calories, the perfect protein treat and they are good for you. They also have a long shelf life so they will be good in the zombie apocalypse.  The date on this can said it was good until 2021.

I do try to respect my coworkers when I do eat them.  I will tie up the can and oil in a separate trash bag to contain the smell.  Even I do not want to smell sardines for six or seven hours in my small cube.  I also keep a can of my favorite air freshener in my cube cabinet.  When I am done with my sardines, I whip out my can of spray and freshen the air.  I eat my sardines the politically correct way.  Not everyone does though.  I’ve been in offices were that was not the case and those coworkers made it bad for everyone else who loved sardines.

One past office even had a ban on sardines. The ban was in place before I started working there.  I found out about it when I ate my first can in the office.  Ban?  Really? I so ignored that!  I just made sure mine did not smell up the place. A plastic bag and air freshener will do the trick.

The point?  Sardine lovers of the world unite!  Eat those sardines at work, in your cube, anywhere…really.  Just be sure you do it the right way!

Ding Dong #trumpcare #trump

I normally don’t get all caught up in the rabble of politics but with this administration it is hard not too.  Everyday I need a new bag of popcorn and a can of Coke!  No one can make any of this up!  Seriously!  Yesterday the failed bill to replace and repeal the Affordable Care Act was shut all the way down. Thank God, because so many people would be affected in an adverse way.  With control of both chambers #trump did not need any democrats to pass the bill.  I am so glad that all could see that it was a complete and utter failure of a bill to place upon the American people!  Clearer heads are beginning to prevail.

The standard was heard after it was pulled. The spin.  It was the fault of the Democrats. Obviously the threats and bullying to get the Republicans to vote for it did not work.  The Affordable Care Act or Obamacare remains the law of the land. Good!  Rightly so!

So far the Trump reign has been nothing but chaos and turmoil on a daily basis.  This kind of daily chaos has never graced the presidency of anyone we have ever had before.  Everyday more alternative facts, lies and then there is Russia looming in the background. None of his campaign promises are coming to fruition.  No wall paid for by Mexico.  American taxpayers will be paying for it.  No repeal and replacement of Obamacare. The travel bans have been a disaster and both of them have been stopped by judges.  Innocent people are being stopped, deported and delayed for no good reason.  The countries were know terrorists have originated are not even on the travel ban list.

It is a wild, wild trump world were ignorance is bliss. I have always been a firm believer that in time all will be revealed and even those last hanger-on’s will have to see the light. Right now I see that all my republican friends on social media who were all so vocal are now getting more and more quiet.  They have yet to speak out about the utter lunacy of the things going on in the Trump camp.  Bowling Green massacres, alternative facts, the travel ban hurting innocent people….silence. I think to myself, surely they cannot think these things are right.  Surely the chaotic winds blowing daily out of Washington cannot be good.

I have not even mentioned the cost of all those trips to Florida to golf every weekend and the cost of keep half of the first family in Trump tower. Camp David is sitting empty.   Just imagine if Obama did anything even remotely similar.  Trump has gone over the travel cost in three months what Obama used in all 8 years.  Where is the outrage? I only hear silence.

I keep thinking that nothing more egregious can happen.  Then it does.  Everyday. The class and dignity of the Obama years is sorely missed.  Hang on….I have to go get more butter for my popcorn.  Monday begins a new week!

Money: Root of all Evil

I think that money really is the root of all evil.  I used to think it was man making bad choices.  It most likely is both.  Man trying to control all the things…with money.  The scenario from a fmoneyriend.  He borrowed a few funds from a friend.  All was good.  This was not too long ago.  The one who lent the funds, now, out of the blue has decided that he wants interest.  This has not been relayed to the person he lent the funds to.  It was told to another friend.  REALLY?  That’s not right.  Whatever you agreed upon at the time the funds were given is what the deal is. Someone cannot just out of the blue add on interest.  That is just wrong.

I see friends not being friends anymore.  This will be  good plot prompt for a story currently in progress.  The plot always thickens!  What are your thoughts.  Was adding on random interest morally right?  The story I am still working on  is an old one from two NaNoWriMo’s ago that I did not finish. So many words still needed!

Hope is the Thing with Feathers

“Hope” is the thing with feathers –
That perches in the soul –
And sings the tune without the words –
And never stops – at all –
And sweetest – in the Gale – is heard –
And sore must be the storm –
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm –
I’ve heard it in the chillest land –
And on the strangest Sea –
Yet – never – in Extremity,
It asked a crumb – of me.

Chuck Berry: Icon Gone

chuckChuck Berry is gone.  2017 is taking our great aging musical icons just like 2016 did. He made so many great milestones in the world of music!  Move over Beethoven!  You have a brother from another mother joining you in making joyful noises!  Heaven must be a happening, musical place….so many great musicians are there.  Sad to see them all go one right after the other.

Burnt Red Orange

Reflections on today.

I’m feeling burnt red orange,

Colour speak for bittersweet.

It’s not cool, like jazz. Not blue.

Or slippered like stilettoed feet.

Awash with feelings

not meant for me,

I long for the shore.

With each new wave

Bittersweet is drawn out

To live forever at the seas’ floor.

The roar of the wave,

The bright mist of the sea,

The din of the water–

It’s not cacophonous.

Instead it’s a silver, melodious

Harmony that speaks to me.

It speaks to bittersweet.

It speaks to burnt red orange.

To the soul it whispers a new colour.

A new hue for a new feel.

A new hue for a new day!!

A hue other than burnt red orange… colour speak for bittersweet.
